After branching out into electronica, ever-changing pop star Madonna looks set to make a foray into yet another musical genre – the world of hip-hop.

British newspaper the Daily Express reports that the chameleonic star, who gave fans a taste of her rapping skills on the Nineties hit Vogue, is keen to get some "street cred" by hooking up with some of today's chart-topping hip hop stars.

The 44-year-old mother-of-two may soon have more in common with Work It rapper Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott than track suits and innovative music videos. Madonna reportedly had a long chat with the hip-hop producer/artist about her burgeoning crossover plans, and has re-entered the recording studio to put together a remixed version of her upcoming single American Life.

A source tells the paper: "Madge is obsessed with Eminem and Missy Elliott and wanted to do something in the rap world and get some street cred."
