Latin music stars including Jennifer Lopez and her husband Marc Anthony gathered in New York on Wednesday to celebrate the career of hip-swivelling superstar Ricky Martin. The Livin' La Vida Loca singer was in town to pick up a person of the year award at the pre-party for Thursday’s Latin Grammy awards.
At just 34, Ricky - who has a reputation for being one of the hardest working artists in the music industry - is the youngest to pick up the Latin Recording Academy gong. And the Puerto Rican heart-throb has clearly not lost any of his allure after 20 years in the limelight, causing a frenzy among his female fans as he arrived for the star-studded bash dressed in a stylish Nehru-collared Giorgio Armani suit.
J Lo, meanwhile, set male hearts racing and flashbulbs popping in her ruched scarlet mini-dress accessorised with diamonds galore. She was just one of many stars offering The Cup Of Life hunk her congratulations at the VIP dinner and concert. Ricky, who has been performing since the age of 14 when he joined boy band Menudo, was not only recognised for his musical achievements but for his charitable foundation’s work with children.
CSI: Miami actress Sofia Milos summed the singer up as "an incredible humanitarian…" adding jokingly, "He’s earned everything. He’s sexy, he’s talented, I’ve even heard he looks great in spandex."
