Sir Paul McCartney is to wed his sweetheart Heather Mills at the unpretentious but well-protected home of John Eastman, the brother of Sir Paul’s late-wife Linda, in the chic seaside resort of East Hampton, New York, according to reports in the New York press.

The wedding – which is set to rival that of Liza Minnelli’s for the sheer number and scale of celebs on display – is set for June 6, and it is thought that John, who is the pop icon’s business manager, will also be acting as best man. Sir Paul’s publicist would neither confirm nor deny the wedding reports.

The former Beatle, who is currently playing his first tour of North America since 1993, has persistently dodged questions about his forthcoming wedding, fearing that publicity would ruin what he hopes will be a private day.

After Sir Paul and Heather became engaged last July, the couple spent the following summer at his secluded beach-front home at Amagansett, just east of East Hampton.
