The Bodrum Kempinski Hotel: an A-list destination for sunseekers

Forget what you thought you knew – the hottest summer destination for the well heeled crowd is no longer the overcrowded beaches of St Tropez or Sorrento – it’s the unspoiled white sand of Turkey.  Perched on the turquoise Turkish coastline – and a mere four hour flight from London, Bodrum is quickly becoming an A-list destination for sunseekers.

With the glamour of Monte Carlo, and a chic Middle Eastern vibe, the secluded Bodrum Kempinski hotel's stretch of cove is particularly quiet. Flanked by green covered mountains on one side and a crystal clear Aegean on the other; its natural beauty and glorious isolation makes it an ideal destination for the world’s most famous faces. From Sheiks and Royalty to Turkish and Hollywood film stars, you are bound to bump into someone interesting.

Sharon Stone, Richard Gere and Bruce Willis along with model wife Emma Heming are all rumoured to have stayed recently. And it’s not surprising.  With a commanding view of the sea, combined with magnificent architecture, the Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay caters to those who appreciate their privacy while indulging in luxury. It’s a deluxe resort and spa experience in one of the most beautiful bays of the Aegean coast.

This wonderfully lavish, 173-room resort seems much bigger than it actually is; in part because each room comes with its own balcony and breathtaking sea views. Clean lines, strong architecture and warm, modern furnishings invite you to relax the moment you walk through the door. The central lobby is all windows framing the blue green sea, but the focal point is the white tiled terrace and expansive infinity-edged pool. The hotel’s Six Senses spa is nothing short of divine. This 800 square metre oasis of calm is not your ordinary spa.  Drawing on exotic therapies, treatments and philosophies from around the world, guests can choose from a series of specially designed 'rituals' encompassing Chinese, Ayurvedic, European, Balinese, Oriental and Native Turkish treatments.  And of course it includes a traditional Turkish Hamman. Hello enjoyed an Oriental spiced massage after a morning spent relaxing in the indoor pool and sauna.

Once there, you won't want to leave this idyllic cocoon (and with a choice of in-house restaurants, there's no need to) but if you do decide to rise from your lounge chair to go sightseeing or shopping, downtown Bodrum is only 20 minutes away.
