Blooming Denise Van Outen joins other celebrity mums supporting children's event

In a matter of months, Denise Van Outen will become a first-time mother.

And the blonde presenter – who has championed her fuller figure - is clearly enjoying the latter stages of her pregnancy, making a radiant appearance at an event for children this week.

Caressing her increasing baby bump, the 35-year-old blonde braved the London chill to hit the red carpet in a vibrant purple jersey dress at the Children's Champions Awards.

She is expecting her child with husband Lee Mead in May – a daughter whom the couple have already picked out a "quite traditional" name for, as she recently revealed exclusively to HELLO! .

Denise was one of a number of stars stepping out in the British capital for the awards ceremony, held to honour people making a positive difference in the lives of children.

Among the judges deciding on the winners – nominees were chosen by members of the public – was doting dad Peter Andre, Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown, Dame Kelly Holmes, Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, and Emma Bunton.

Mum-of-one Emma, who welcomed her son Beau with long-term partner Jade Jones in August 2007, also helped brighten up the event in a bold printed number.

Her judging role must be one she is getting used to, having gained experience on the panel of this year's season of hit skating show, Dancing on Ice.

The event was also attended by other celebrities including Sharon Osbourne, Ross Kemp and X Factor's John and Edward.

Kirsty Gallacher was there too, looking fabulous after giving birth to her son Jude on January 19, whom she introduced with fiancé Paul Sampson in a HELLO! exclusive.
