Health: Sunbeds and young skin don't mix Research from the Queensland Institute of Medical Research suggests that, if you're under the age of 35, just one go on a sunbed can increase your risk of skin cancer by 22 per cent, while regular use can see it rise to 98 per cent. Cancer Research UK estimates that there are 100 deaths a year in the UK from skin cancer caused by sunbeds. It is thought skin cancer triggered by sunbed use is more likely to be a malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
