Pierre Cardin presents extraordinary collection at South of France home

8 OCTOBER 2008
His name has been synonymous with French individuality for over five decades, and Pierre Cardin certainly didn't disappoint with his latest collection.

Eschewing the traditional Paris catwalk route, the silver-haired style icon presented the new, space-age-styled collection at his private villa in Theoule sur Mer, southern France.

Models took to a wooden circular 'runway' above the swimming pool in sculptural parachute-hoop dresses and padded, igloo-style jackets in cobalt blue and pillar box red.

Other standout pieces from the geometric- inspired collection - which featured items from both the designer's spring/summer 2009 and autumn/winter 09-10 lines - included a matching hat and gown ensemble in a dramatic swirl print and a glittering red spherical affair.
