Gisele makes friends with furry Outback dweller on Oz trip

3 OCTOBER 2007

There was a special treat in store for self-confessed animal lover Gisele Bundchen this week as she came face-to-face with a Melbourne koala bear.

The model, who was on a whirlwind visit Down Under to promote her new range of environmentally friendly flip flops, got pally with the cuddly-looking national icon during a trip to an animal sanctuary just outside the southern Australian city.

And there was no way Gisele, who once described herself as the "biggest animal lover in the world", was going to miss out on the opportunity to record the meeting for posterity. The statuesque blonde, who's more accustomed to being on the other side of the lens, whipped out a digital camera and gently repositioned the sleepy tree-dweller's face in order to get the perfect shot.
