With the likes of Camden Crawl been and gone we’re heading right on in to festival season and the perfect time for summer fashion. Whilst those who love a bit of Glasto glam may have to wait for another year, the calendar is packed with fabulous festivals.
Whether you’re raiding festival fashion to look your best at Bestival, be right on trend for Reading or sizzle at Secret Garden Party take a look at plus size fashion brand Curvissa’s guide to festival fashion.
Dress to impress
Maxi dresses are great for festivals when it’s dry. You can float around in the sunshine with a pair of gypsy sandals or even with your shoes off. Florals are right on trend for this year and perfect for the resurging flower power vibe.
Whilst colour is great, you can’t go wrong with a plus size maxi dress. You can dress it up with some bright accessories and a flower in your hair. Black is a great colour to hide any mud that might make it onto your dress and keep you looking glam despite sleeping in a tent for the last three nights.
No serious festival goer should be without appropriate footwear. Spending three days in the Great British countryside you’ll need to be ready for the mud. Wellies may be the choice for some festival stalwarts, but we’re thinking ankle, biker or maybe even cowboy boots to really stay ahead in the style stakes.
Remember, it’s not always going to be muddy and wet. If you’re lucky enough to be out in a field in the sunshine you’ll need the perfect sandals. Teamed with a maxi dress a great pair of sandals or mules will be perfect to create the ideal boho look. Just slip them off and feel the grass between your toes. The perfect way to spend summer.
Whatever the weather a pair of stylish sunnies is always essential. We’re thinking retro oversized, aviators - anything really.
Functional clothes are ideal for a festival. When you’re packed it with sweaty bodies or relaxing on the grass you don’t want to be worrying about your favourite designer gear or party dresses. Vest tops, check shirts, jeans and leggings are perfect.
Key to festival dressing is fashionable but functional accessories. The likes of Sienna set the style tempo a couple of years ago with a straw Fedora (now a festival fashion favourite), but this year expect to see large, floppy, oversized retro hats everywhere.
This year’s biggest festivals aren’t just in the UK. For those lucky ones heading out to Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast for beachside festivals like Soundwave, the perfect bikinis are a must. Think bold bright colours, daring prints and fancy florals.
